Scott Coker Discusses Overeem vs. Werdum, Gina Carano's Health Status Video by Strikeforce The LA Times sat down with Madonna in her SoCal home just before the Golden Globes a couple of weekends ago to discuss her directorial debut film W.E., her new album M.D.N.A. and her upcoming LIVE performance for the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI. Altho the entire interview is fascinating to read, I was really more interested in the music bits — most especially her revelation of a song on her album titled Beautiful Killer. Click below to read excerpts from Maddy‘s LA Times interview where she talks about M.D.N.A. and what little she can say about her much-anticipated Super Bowl halftime show next week.

“I don’t like to repeat myself,” she said. “I’m a curious person who’s interested in learning, and I like to take the road less traveled by. That’s just my nature, so perhaps that leads me to subject matter or controversial or subversive waters. I don’t know. It’s not something that’s intentional. I’m not calculating being subversive or trying to be ahead of people. I just work on things that interest me” … The singer’s best preparation for the demands of directing a movie may have been her ambitious, visually driven live shows, and she’ll spend the latter half of 2012 on a global tour on behalf of “MDNA.” “When you’re putting a show together, you’re dealing with so many elements,” she said. “You’re creating a stage and working with lights and costumes and dancers, who you could say are the actors. You’re paying attention to the minutiae and you’re also stepping back and looking at the bigger picture. I always like to tell stories in my show and have some kind of an arc. I have a crew that I rely on desperately and … I’m working with creative people, so I need to be judicious with the way that I speak with them. I’ve always been intricately involved in every aspect of my show. I know where all the nails are on the stage.” At the Super Bowl in Indianapolis on Feb. 5, Madonna will have the unusual experience of surrendering much of the control she treasures, if not creatively, at least logistically, to the National Football League and NBC. That means staging a memorable performance within the rigid timing and space constraints of a football game and without any Federal Communications Commission-inciting offenses like the infamous wardrobe malfunction that accompanied Janet Jackson’s 2004 show. “I have 12 minutes and 40 seconds to do something extravagant and exciting in the middle of something that’s quite sacred to all of America,” she said. “No one’s asked me to tone down my moves. They were curious about my costumes and the costumes of the dancers…. They were very clear with us up front that they don’t want nipples or anything like that, and I didn’t have any intention of doing that, so I was like, ‘OK, we’re cool.’ I’m more nervous about this than most things I’ve done, simply because … it’s not how I’m used to working. I’m a perfectionist. I like everything to be done just so, and I like to run things and run things and run things until people can do it with their eyes closed.” Her high-stakes Indianapolis performance will serve as the launch for “Gimme All Your Lovin’,” the first single off “MDNA.” She’s brought back two of her favorite collaborators for the album, producers William Orbit and Martin Solveig, and is working with new faces — the female rappers M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj. One song on the album, “Beautiful Killer,” is a tribute to French film star Alain Delon. “I’ve seen every movie Alain Delon’s ever made,” Madonna said. “He’s so charismatic.” The album will be the first in a $40-million, three-record deal she signed with Interscope Records in December … “I feel like all the records on the radio right now have a homogenized quality to them,” she said in The Times interview. “I’ve made a huge effort to try and not sound like everybody else. The music that I’ve done with William is quite introspective, whereas Martin’s is more ironic and funny and upbeat. There’s a really up aspect to it and a really fun aspect to it.”
As I said, the entire interview (which can be read online HERE) is fascinating to read but OMG, I’m dying over any new music news we get from Madonna. First up, we have her big Super Bowl halftime show to look forward to … just one week from tomorrow. IEEEEE! Then, the music onslaught should get underway. I understand that Gimme All Your Luvin’ will be released to radio next Friday February 3. OY! It’s so exciting. New Madonna music … and soon, a new tour! I CAN’T WAAAAAAIT!

Altho I’ve been feeling pretty crappy for the past few days I managed to get enough sleep yesterday so that I could rally and get out of the house to hang out with Sarah and Mark last night. To get the night started, we enjoyed a very delicious Cuban dinner at Vicente’s in downtown Detroit before we made our way to the YMCA (where I made a very exciting discovery) and then to City Club for a late night of dancing fun. Despite my stupid cold symptoms, I managed to have a really fantastic night out on the town.

On our way to dinner, we drove past the massive YMCA complex in downtown Detroit and I noticed the really cute statue of kids spelling out Y-M-C-A so I suggested we walk over to the statue so we could take fun photos after we ate. As I neared the statue, I noticed that one of the kids was holding what I thought was trash … and I angrily pulled it out to throw it away. It turns out it wasn’t trash but a small piece of Free Art that was meant to be found and kept. Attached to the little art piece was a piece of paper that asks the finder (me) to tweet that I found the piece. Apparently there is a group called Free Art Friday Detroit and they hide small pieces of free art all around town for people to find. I am just so geeked that this kind of fun creativity is happening in Detroit. I can’t wait to hang up my little painting in my home back in LA :)
After all of that excitement, Sarah, Mark and I made our way to City Club for a night of fun:

Surprisingly, we ran into some old friends from WAY back in the day when we used to hang out at City Club … so it was fun getting to hang out and say hello to those folks. The music was fun … we just had a great time. I’m glad I was able to feel well enough to get out of the house cuz last night was full of a lot of fun surprises.
Today, Sarah is hosting a gathering of some of our friends so I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone. Today is my last day here in Detroit before I fly back to LA tomorrow. These trips are always short … but oh so sweet :D
Watch these two monsters of the Octagon square off tomorrow night at UFC 131 .
Explosiveness against technique. It's a solid way to describe the main event tonight at UFC on FX 1.
Melvin Guillard can overwhelm his opponents, while Jim Miller can slowly pick you apart with his overall game. But there may be one other factor that determines the outcomes of this one. Guillard may simply be too big for Miller, one of the smaller fighters in the lightweight division.
Guillard tweeted this morning that he'll actually be over the welterweight limit as he steps into the Octagon tonight (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) for this 155-pound tilt.

Kevin Iole and Frank Trigg joined myself on ESPN1100/98.9 FM in Las Vegas to make our picks using the Sin City betting odds. Iole likes Guillard and Trigg thinks the size disparity won't make a difference. He's worried about Guillard surviving if he doesn't finish the fight in the first few minutes.

Yesterday we saw video from the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show at Paris Fashion Week that showcased Gaultier‘s Amy Winehouse-inspired fashion collection. Today we are hearing from Amy‘s father Mitch Winehouse who is upset by the tribute, calling Gauliter‘s decision to craft a fashion collection inspired by the late singer as in “bad taste”. Read on to find out just how angry and “shocked” Mitch Winehouse is over the tribute.

AMY Winehouse’s grieving dad Mitch hit out last night after designer Jean Paul Gaultier used her image as a gimmick. Mitch, 60, said the catwalk “tribute” at Paris Fashion Week came as a “total shock”. The ex-cabbie accused Gaultier of cashing in on Amy’s death with a “bad taste” fashion show. Mitch said the singer’s family was devastated by pictures of catwalk models smoking and wearing the singer’s trademark beehive hairdos and heavy eyeliner. Wednesday’s show at Paris Fashion Week came just two days after the half-year anniversary of the Back To Black star’s death — and Mitch said it portrayed Amy at her worst. He said: “The family was upset to see those pictures, they were a total shock. “We’re still grieving for her loss, and we’ve had a difficult week with the six-month anniversary of Amy’s death. To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting or consulted on. We’re proud of her influence on fashion but find black veils on models, smoking cigarettes with a barbershop quartet singing her music in bad taste. It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best, and glamorises some of the more upsetting times in her life. That’s upsetting for her family.” Mitch has set up the Amy Winehouse Foundation helping vulnerable youngsters in his daughter’s memory. But he added: “No one asked us for permission or offered to make a donation to the foundation. This is purely about Gaultier making money, and that’s wrong.” Gaultier, 59 — former co-presenter of Channel 4 show Eurotrash — claimed the catwalk show was a “tribute” to the singer. He said afterwards: “She was an icon of fashion and truly, the sense of how she mixed the clothes — it was great. “It was very Eighties but did it in a very modern way. It is very joyous.”
First off, I’d have to day … Mitch Winehouse, as a grieving father, has every right to be upset by images that remind him of his late daughter. Far be it for me or anyone else to downplay his pain. BUT … Gaultier‘s fashion tribute to Amy isn’t the first time her look was been used in a clothing line. Amy teamed up with Fred Perry to creat the Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry collection back in 2010. The line was given the OK to be made available for sale after her death last year. The difference here is that the money made by Gaultier on the sale of these clothes will go in his pocket rather than in the Winehouse family coffers. This is a tricky. Is it OK for a designer (or anyone else) to pay tribute to a deceased person for financial gain? I’m not sure. My guess is that if this story gets big enough, Jean Paul Gaultier will announce a plan to donate a portion of the proceeds made from sales of this collection to the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Then again, maybe not. I guess the question becomes … should Gaultier hand over profits made from this collection? Or at the very least, should he make a donation?

Tomorrow night, Kenny Florian will make his featherweight debut as he takes on Diego Nunes at UFC 131 Last month we got to see the kind of fire dress that designer Christian Siriano would design for Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. Today we get to see actual Siriano designs from his soon-to-be launched wedding gown collection at Nordstrom’s. This Spring, brides will be able to purchase Siriano wedding dresses exclusively from Nordstrom’s department stores … click below to get your first look at one of the dresses that will be made available.

Former Project Runway star Christian Siriano knows how to create a drama. Last week he sparked a storm of interest from brides-to-be when he tweeted that he would be designing an exclusive line of wedding dresses for Nordstrom. The post was quickly removed though, and while an image of the gown appeared on the Nordstrom website, it was accompanied by the words: ‘This item is currently unavailable’ in ominous red letters. Finally, though, the mystery has been put to bed, as the retailer confirmed today that the collection would be going ahead. A spokesman told Brides.com that two exclusive designs would be going on sale at 18 stores across the U.S. and online from the beginning of March. Andrea Wasserman, Nordstrom’s national bridal director, told the site: ‘We believe in emerging talent and we are big fans of Project Runway and Christian Siriano. We are committed to bringing fashion to weddings and believe emerging talent plays a vital role in that.’ So far, just one image from the collection has been released. The strapless gown, which will retail for $2,375, is described as ‘fit for a fairytale’ on the department store’s website. ‘Artful pleating shapes the fitted sweetheart bodice of a silk satin gown, fit for a fairytale, which flows into a skirt of two oversized tiers accented at one hip with a wispy organza rosette,’ it says. A second dress will also be going on sale, though Nordstrom has said it is will not be releasing images or details of it until the launch.
Yeah, this is really cool. As you may know, Christian has some experience designing wedding gowns … he designed the gown that his sister Shannon when she got hitched back in 2010. I am so in love with the idea of a line of Siriano wedding dresses available for sale at Nordstrom’s. I am just continually in awe of how talented Christian is. He has managed to maintain his cutting edge style while finding a way to bring his vision to major retailers. His shoe collection for Payless is a complete hit and I suspect these wedding dresses will be just as successful. Next month, Christian Siriano will be debuting his next collection at New York Fashion Week … because clearly there cannot be too much Siriano in the world.

Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.
By James Montgomery

Officially, Lollapalooza ended Sunday night in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from the Killers and Jane's Addiction. Unofficially, it ended very early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures. To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of Foo Fighters frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere. According to some reports, the Vultures actually turned down Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town. Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called Never Deserved the Future, and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans). The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis. It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October. Early Monday, a Crooked Vultures Twitter account, which had previously posted links to the band's official-looking Web site and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a Deserve the Future T-shirt. Cost: $30.
Related Videos Related Photos Related ArtistsIn the past few days we’ve gotten quite a bit of news about the biopic film Lovelace and right now we’re going to get a wee bit more (because, clearly, Lovelace is the ONLY movie in production right now). Earlier we learned that Demi Moore is OUT and Sarah Jessica Parker is IN for the cameo role of Gloria Steinem and we also learned that Chloë Sevigny has also been added to the cast as a journalist. Last month we learned that James Franco was in talks to play Hugh Hefner in the film and today we get to see him in character on the set of Lovelace. Like the Gloria Steinem character, I understand that Franco‘s Hefner will be a cameo role. Click below to check out the first photos of Franco as Hugh Hefner and check out new photos of star Amanda Seyfriend as Linda Lovelace.

He might not have much in common with the porn mogul in real life. But Spider-Man star James Franco has been spotted dressed as Hugh Hefner for the first time as he films the highly anticipated movie Lovelace. The 33-year-old was dressed as the Playboy boss as he walked around the set in Glendale, California today. And he certainly looked the part in the businessman’s trademark red velvet smoking jacket and white scarf. It would be interesting to hear what Hugh, 85, thinks of the fact James was carrying a bottle of water instead of a vodka Martini. But the Rise of the Planet of the Apes star certainly looked all business as he sauntered around the location. The Hollywood star is playing a young version of the Playboy boss in the upcoming movie Lovelace. Franco would join the movie which already stars Amanda Seyfried as Deep Throat actress Linda Lovelace. The 26-year-old was also seen today wearing her cream embroidered dress.

[Franco] was on set to film the scene in which Lovelace visits the Playboy mansion. Lovelace starred in the 1972 movie Deep Throat, which is widely regarded as the first porn movie with an actual plot. She later claimed she had been forced to do the movie at gunpoint by her then husband Chuck Traynor.

The poster on top is the new one created for the film (which was photographed on set) and the poster below it is the actual poster that was used for Deep Throat‘s theatrical release. There is a LOT going on with Lovelace these days … even without the drama that Demi Moore brought on the casting, this film really does seem to be the ONLY movie being made right now. I guess I can’t really decide until the film comes out but, I don’t really see Hugh Hefner in James Franco‘s portrayal as pictured here. He just looks like James Franco in a bad wig. HMMM.

Mom and daughter – Courtesy Elisabeth Röhm |
Elisabeth Röhm, best known for her roles as Serena on Law & Order and Kate on Angel, is marking a year blogging for PEOPLE.com.
The actress will appear on CSI: Miami this Sunday, Jan. 29. She also has a role on The Client List and upcoming films Transit and Officer Down out later this year. She can be found on Facebook, Google + and @ElisabethRohm.
In her latest blog, Röhm — mom to 3½-year-old Easton August with Ron Anthony — gets a 2012 wake up call when her fiancé suggests her resolution includes chucking the mom clothes!
What was your New Year’s resolution? Three weeks in, are you keeping it? Let Elisabeth know in the comments.
So here we are at the start of 2012 and I’m sure each of us has a mile-long list of things we would do differently from last year. Perhaps little things make the top 20, but there’s always the BIG one that stands out from the rest.
We know that if we at least tackle that one thing, all will be set straight in our universe. One is totally doable, right? With our harried schedules, it seems realistic to say that there would be one big game-changer that we could focus on this year.
I had mine all lined up and picked out earlier this month. I was ready to put it into motion until … dun dun dun! It came to my attention that I may have picked the wrong New Year’s resolution.
Perhaps a few people over the year had pointed out that there was another matter worthy of my consideration. But I hadn’t really paid it any mind — although I’ll admit it had nagged at me. But when you hear something a few times over and over, I guess one could say that it might become a more imperative matter.
I mean c’mon, you know something is urgent when loved ones are handing out a New Year’s resolution to you!
So here it is. I shudder to say it out loud, PEOPLE.com, but I knew it was true when the last and final person (my trying-to-be-sensitive-but-not-quite-achieving-it other half) said it. Ron told me that I wear too many “mom clothes.”
I mean, it kind of sucked when he compared me to an aging woman in ballet slippers and a cardigan who attended our recent New Year’s brunch. But sadly, I’ll admit that we did look an awful lot alike.
Now, just to set the record straight — I thought she looked good, the middle-aged lady that he whispered about in between his bites of fruit and yogurt (he turned over his new leaf a few months ago). So now he’s in the business of advising others on how to improve their lives and stay young?!
I mean, I’ve always leaned towards the preppy look rather than, let’s say, the Fergie-esque get up and dance look, although I appreciate it in others. In fact, I really admire those women who continue to sex it up a little for the duration of their lives. I certainly thought I’d be one of those types, because I come from a long line of women who have stayed youthful and attractive as the years have unmercifully gone by.
Now, let me make something clear: I like the preppy look and by saying that I’m preppy, I did not think I’d lost my edge … that’s just my style preference. I’ve always leaned towards the classic little black dress. To tell the truth, I really like ballet slippers!
However, I had noticed that something changed in my wardrobe choices, starting three years ago. I’ve even blogged about it before. You know … the sensible breastfeeding blouse, the pants that have added stretch, and the low shoes with all that extra support.
I started to go for practicality and comfort rather than style and expression. It happens. We all talk about it. We even laugh about it, as if we are proud to wear our badge of mom honor by displaying those too long sweaters that resemble tents, rather the fitted ones of the past. But I think I may have gone too far, perhaps over the edge into the tacky shoes department.
From my prior blog – Courtesy Elisabeth Röhm |
As I watched the woman with her ponytail (no time to blow it out), ballet slippers (there used to be long legs there), cardigan and leggings (all black, square and flowing as to hide any lumps and bumps), I hated to admit that Ron was right.
Not to mention that I kind of wanted to plunge my butter knife into him as he plunged my ego into that cold glass of water. Deep inside I knew it was true, although I became grumpy for the rest of the day.
Even now, as I step away from the computer to look at myself in the mirror, my hair is still in that ponytail due to the lack of a current blowout. I’m in some sort of plastic ballet slippers that really aren’t cool and that I never would have worn four years ago, before Easton was conceived.
I remember looking at those sexy as heck (even my language has changed!) photo shoots I’d see in Vogue, with some statuesque model in three-inch heels and a tight suit pushing a baby stroller with her hair flowing in the wind and sunglasses on. You know, like Victoria Beckham.
I was so sure that would be the type of mom look I’d duplicate once I had a little bundle of joy. Okay yes, for those events that come up, I still know how to pull out those punches. However, I had no idea my inner Martha Stewart would start showing up on a daily basis.
I mean, for goodness sake, I’m in a plaid ruffled shirt right now because it was a gift and not because I like it. It doesn’t even look particularly bad, but it doesn’t look good either. In fact, it looks like a tablecloth.
The other day my gorgeous friend — a parent who is just spectacularly stylish — was lamenting her ballet slippers too, and saying she was going to buy herself some new boots with a heel to go to the office in. I was applauding her. All the while, I was wearing some strange non-youthful getup of my own as we perused the web for her sexy new shoes.
“Where have I stashed my former self?” I was thinking yesterday as I ate my bagel with too much cream cheese (yes, part of my mom getup is some extra poundage — I’m going to shed that too).
I watched the older woman that Ron was comparing me to nibbling on her breakfast and thought, “Ugh!” It’s like that last cigarette you smoke. The final straw had broken. I wasn’t going to be compared to someone 20 years my senior — no way.
I made a commitment to myself today as I threw on my usual gear with distraction that this would be the last day that I’d let my youth faintly slip away. So my New Year’s resolution this January is to burn my mom costume in the back yard and blow the dust off some of my other old relics from those days gone by, at least until I can afford a few new things!
This year, let’s focus the blog a little bit more on us, ladies. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help us all get that shiny look of youth back in our cheeks and trust me, we won’t have to break an ankle doing it by trying to look like Beyoncé!
Not to mention she’s probably going to have to wear some ballet slippers and sensible shirts soon herself with that new baby girl. Don’t worry Beyoncé, we’ll be there for you when you want to get your fashion groove back too!
Tell me your own personal New Year’s resolutions (and are you keeping them thus far?).
Until next time, PEOPLE.com.

The UFC released featherweight Junior Assuncao on Monday following his loss to Ross Pearson several weeks ago at UFC 141, which snapped a seven-fight win streak.
“I just got cut from the UFC!! Wow…apparently they did not like my last fight. Thanks UFC for the opportunity. To my fans, I’ll be back!,” Assuncao wrote on Twitter.
Prior to dropping a unanimous decision to The Ultimate Fighter 9 winner Pearson, Assuncao moved down to 145-pounds with his own decision win over Eddie Yagin in September after six-straight wins on the regional circuit.
Assuncao, who trains out of Georgia and was a likely candidate to fight at UFC 145 in Atlanta, went 1-2 in his first stint with the UFC from 2006 to 2007 with a win over David Lee and losses to Nate Diaz and Kurt Pellegrino.
